Miranda Ferriss Jones
Writer, Composer/Lyricist, Role of “Miranda”
Miranda Ferriss Jones is a Vermont-born songwriter, theatrical storyteller, performer and creativity/vocal coach whose work delves into feminine identity and challenges societal binaries. Miranda has four shows currently in development. The Precipice was developed in San Francisco with angel support from Grateful Dead founding member, Bob Weir and in collaboration with Dead & Co pianist, Jeff Chimenti. The Precipice is currently in a period of rewrites after a workshop at Williamstown in partnership with Bway legend & Miranda’s torchbearer, Laura Benanti and with the support as artist in residence for black feminist organization, Black Women’s Blueprint.
Laura is also a creative producer on Miranda's song cycle, Spiral Bound which has been staged at Joe’s Pub and Racket NYC featuring artists such as Lorna Courtney, Eva Noblemzada, Eleri Ward, Khaila Wilcoxon and more. The most recent performance was directed by Ellenore Scott and was part of 2 shows of Miranda’s original work that raised 64K for the Kamala Harris campaign.
Miranda's exploration and celebration of female relationships extends to her other shows, Edmonia - which is prepping for a spring 29 hour workshop - and her two-woman semi-semi autobiographical musical Showing Up which had staged readings at Middlebury College and Princeton University this past January. Through her coaching practice, Miranda gets the opportunity to guide and collaborate with local creatives and vocalists as they find their own voice and story to share. Miranda is the mom of actually the coolest kids in the universe, Leo and Will, and the wife of extraordinary mensch and creator in his own rite, Ben. -
